Our Approach

Italy goes deep
We go beyond

Our work starts with listening: to what the traveler wants, how they move, what a good day looks like for them. Then we build. Through Italy's most celebrated places, because there are reasons they're famous, and through less obvious territory: the slow rhythms of Ogliastra, the longevity traditions of Cilento, the villages that shaped generations of Italian-Americans. Every destination we propose, we know. Every partner in our network (guides, artisans, family-run properties) is there because of real quality and trust, not a listing. And behind every trip is something simple: a genuine desire to make Italy unforgettable for the people who travel with us.

Self-drive through Italy

Flexibility

Your trip,
your way

Not everyone travels the same. We offer both guided and self-drive options, hotels across categories: from carefully chosen 3-stars to 5-star properties, best in class at every level. Budget is a real conversation, not a fixed price list. And if something needs to change before or during the trip, we work with it.

Changes happen. We work with them.

Digital itinerary on your phone

Tech Edge

Every detail,
on your phone

A shared digital itinerary with every appointment (map links, exact times, contact numbers) on your device before departure. Real-time coordination with all local partners throughout the trip. Direct access to us whenever something shifts.

No surprises. Ever.

Discovery call with the Altrove team

How We Work

Fast to start
No pressure

A discovery call (video preferred), because a face matters more than a form. Within 48 hours, a first draft itinerary: something concrete to react to, with no commitment and no deposit. From there, we refine together, adjust, and confirm. When you're ready to move forward, so are we.

First call to first draft: 48 hours.

From this foundation we designed three collections (Deep Italy, Longevitaly, and Il Paese) as starting points for travelers who want direction without constraint. They're built on the same base: years of operational experience, a network of trusted local partners across every region, and an honest curiosity about what Italy can offer. Woven into every trip, across all three: at least one experience made by hand (Mani), one real encounter with someone who lives there (Persone), and one moment of slow movement through the land (Terra). Use the collections as inspiration, adapt them to who you are, or set them aside entirely. We're equally comfortable starting from scratch.

The Collections

Three ways into Italy

Each collection opens a different lens on the same country. They're starting points, not packages. Every trip is shaped around the traveler, their pace, and what actually matters to them.

Experiences

In every Altrove journey we aim to include at least one experience of each kind: something made with your hands, an encounter with a real person from that place, and a moment of slow movement through the land.

Mani made by hand
·
Persone real local encounters
·
Terra slow through the landscape
Deep Italy

01 · Deep Italy

Deep Italy

Deeper from day one

The cities you know, seen differently. The regions you don't know yet. For travelers who want Italy experienced with depth, not coverage; whether it's their first visit or their fifth.

Longevitaly

Slow living, long living

Italy's blue zones and places where living slowly is an unbroken tradition, not a retreat. Ogliastra, Cilento. Unhurried rhythms, real food, encounters with people who simply live well.

03 · Il Paese

Il Paese

Back to the roots

Heritage trips built around your family's story: researched before you leave, walked when you arrive. For Italian-Americans and Italian-Canadians ready to rediscover what was left behind.

Before departure

We start with your surname

Altrove handles the pre-trip documentary research: parish archives, civil records, identification of family branches still present in the village.

You arrive in Italy with your own story already mapped.

Sicilian village — Il Paese sample destination
During the trip: three encounters, threaded through

Sample destination: Sicily

Agrigento & Trapani area, among the highest historical emigration to the US & Canada. 1–12 nights: ritual time, not efficiency.

M Mani Lunch at a private home, not a restaurant. The dishes your family's ancestors used to make.
P Persone Archive visit with a local genealogist. Meeting with the mayor, village elders, or distant relatives, where traceable.
T Terra A slow walk through the town of origin: the square, the church, the house. Then out to the land the family once worked.

Handcrafted Italy

Beyond the
Collections

The collections are a starting point, not a ceiling. When a brief calls for something outside the framework; a different region, a different pace, a different purpose. We build it.

From scratch, every time. No templates, ever.

Vincenzo

Sales & Operations

Vincenzo

Vincenzo has spent years building Italy's less obvious side into real, operational trips. His network of guides, artisans, local partners, and hospitality professionals spans every corner of the country, assembled through relationships, not directories.

He leads every trip from first conversation to final debrief. When you're in Italy, he's reachable.

Federico

Strategy, Communication & Technology

Federico

Federico brings a background in product management and technology to the travel experience. He oversees the systems that make each trip run cleanly: from the live digital itinerary on your phone to the real-time coordination layer behind the scenes.

He covers everything outside the destination itself: communication, strategy, and the digital edge that keeps operations tight.
